ABOUT THE BLANCO

The Blanco River watershed supports an array of diverse wildlife and vegetation.

This region is home to many birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, and some of the highest cave fauna diversity in the southwestern United States. Among these include some rare, endangered and threatened species often not found elsewhere.

A recent rise in human population has impacted this sensitive ecosystem threatening wildlife habitat, reducing surface water flows and lowering groundwater reliability.
