Habitat management (PDF) is important in preserving a natural state of any ecosystem. Natural habitats (PDF) maintain biodiversity which allow rare, threatened and endangered species to manage their appropriate niche in the ecosystem.

For the Blanco River Basin, due to its growing human population and diversifying land use, the sensitive biological life is being threatened (PDF) by many different complex problems.  Many of these are due to human suppression of natural disturbances essential in maintaining a natural habitat. Others are a result of land use and water quality degradation.
